I really love Wellington, it feels so self-assured and doesn't long or try to be like anywhere else. I made these images on a recent trip there and shot the vast majority of them on a new lens, which forced a more measured, restricted approach on me which was refreshing. Shooting cities is so interesting because they are such volatile environments. From day to day they constantly evolve, degenerate and grow. They are full of coincidences, chance meetings, idiosyncratic nuances and humour. You really just have to go for a walk with your camera, follow your intuition and the images make themselves.
